Legal Services on Copyrights Infringement: Case of Wuying, a Famous Singer

Ms. Wu Yingyin, contracting with EMI, was a famous singer in the 1930s and 1940s. When she came back from abroad, Ms. Wu saw in the airport by accident an album called Evergreen Songs of Wu Yingyin published by China Record Shanghai Company. After investigations, it was known that after its migration to Hong Kong, EMI’s assets in Shanghai including records were took over by China Record, but not every song in the album was recorded before the foundation of the PRC. Finally, under the positive coordination of Mr. Chambers Yang and other lawyers, the disputes resulted in amicable settlements.
